RUE

Rue (scientifically known as Ruta graveolens and commonly called common rue or herb-of-grace) is a strongly scented woody perennial subshrub native to the Mediterranean region.  In ancient Rome and parts of Europe/Africa, it was used to flavor food, wine, and cheese despite its strong bitterness. It has a long history in herbal medicine to treat various ailments, though internal use is rare now due to toxicity.
